Hi Jimmy,

Now at last I have had time to properly play my TBASS I received already in March.

The bass is super good! A very lightweight bass (just what I wished for) but produces a giant
sound. A highly firm and good-looking piece of art. Excellent playability, Hipshot's double drop tuner works like a dream.
Thanks for a superb work and communication, Jimmy!!! This is my best and most versatile bass guitar so far (I have Fender's custom shop bass, one U.S.-made Gretsch. . .)

Fortunately there are master luthiers like you in this world.

Best wishes,

Turku, Finland

PS one female bass player (professional) wanted to buy my TBASS right away. However, my bass is definitely not for sale.

Thank You Jimmy,
............…….I love the guitar!!! Love the overall feel and craftsmanship. Love, love, love it. The Strat shape works very well … playable sitting or standing. Great balance and no neck dive!! The neck is a beast, so solid for it's size and a beautiful fret board. I really like the satin finish. I also think the electronics Rock. The EMG set up roars and there is a very wide tonal range as advertised. Great pop on the bridge pick up, sweet warm tones on the middle and neck and some pretty respectable bottom end out of the neck position too! This guitar will work very nice for the types of music that I play and the "playability" factor is off the charts. I am very happy with my purchase Jimmy. You build great guitars. Perfect choice in cases as well. I am a happy camper and happy customer! Thanks for working with me on the price and making it all happen so smoothly. I will recommend your shop to anyone I cross paths with for sure. :

Got back from a few days at the coast, and there she was! Jimmy, I must commend you on this truly beautiful bass that you have now brought to life twice :) I've never known her like this, so it's truly a pleasure to play her the way her creator intended. Headstock looks fantastic - you'd hardly know anything ever happened. Great restoration job, and really glad you were able to get the paint out of the truss rod adjustment hole - I had no idea how I was going to do that. And now I have the knobs filled in, I can really explore the tonal range of the instrument. This bass has such a bright future ahead of her! You must be a proud, proud man :)

I really appreciate your attention to detail, your prompt communication, your willingness to work with what I wanted, and of course the restoration you offered completely for free!!! Best customer service I've gotten from anyone in any industry. I don't know how you do it, but you deliver the goods!

My hat's off to you, sir. Any time I can do you a good deed from here in Eugene, OR, I'll be happy to :) ------ -Arjuna

Hello Jimmy!!

Yes, I have my beautiful bass. Sorry for not writing sooner - I was away for work (again!).

I am so pleased. Finally - I have the deep bass tone that I long for! It is so much easier for me to pick up my bass now - she weighs about ¼ of what my other bass weighs - but with no compromise at all in tone. But then … you know all that!

Thank you so much! I am very happy that I bought this bass! Best ----- Cary M

Have to tell you how happy I am with this guitar!! :>). I have been playing a little more than normal and really seeing what this beast will do. I am a weekend hacker but this guitar is SICK !!! I can't remember if I have ever played a guitar with the action and speed of this neck. It will take some doing if I ever purchase a production guitar again. The electronics just scream !! I plug this guy in, and the guitar knows what to do.
There is nothing bashful about my landing !!!

Not sure when I will get my next, the thought has been crossing my mind.

Hey Jimmy,

Just a quick follow-up. After having her nearly a week, I am only more impressed. I took her to band practice last night and she ruled, cutting through nicely the 2 guitars and drums. The neck, OMG, she's so smooth and fast, and looks awesome. The guy's couldn't believe the weight. The NP4 and string thru bridge add the sustain I figured I had to sacrifice on a short scale, but not with this bass. Thanks for everything you did on her.

PS - I did end up putting on GHS pressure wound strings. I've used them for years on all my basses. I ask for the others to see if I liked them (they were fine), but had to try my tried and true as well. I'll leave them on.

My bass has landed! It took me a bit of time to get it all into my head, had to do some minor adjustments and all I can say is; this is a fine instrument! I've only owned six basses in my life so consider me a newcomer, this Landing is way beyond any previous bass. I had been looking for a short scale bass as I always play sitting down because I'm a paraplegic. This bass has such a heavy deep mellow roar! Very tight! Very sensitive. Good response. It does what I want it to do, everything about it is good and amazingly it is just how I thought it would be! The color is perfect!

Hi Jimmy, just finished jamming and for the first time in a jam since I have my new Landing bass guitar tonight I became "one with the guitar" !

It is freakin beautiful and the sound loud clear defined. A passive pickup with real nuts!

The finish….Unreal nice
The feel……It don't get better
The sound…..First class
The WOW factor…Up the ying yang

My band guys are very happy with the sound and as you likely well know "bass players" just can't get no respect…It is all about the guitars so their compliments are even more important to me.

Thanks…A million times over

Could not be more satisfied to own an instrument especially a custom hot rod like the Landing P30! If it had wings it would fly!!!!

Hi Jimmy, very nice color…..My next Landing will be a more "woody" grain finish much like this (more to come on this subject)…Did a gig this weekend up North and the comments came all night….What kind of bass, …Sounds great what is that ….Looks great where did you get this guitar and so on.

Precision, Jazz and many other brands of bass guitars are a "dime a dozen"….Ya don't see these Landing guitars on every street corner music store….And that is why I just LOVE it….Here is a couple picture of the gig this weekend….A small town recreation center dance North of Ottawa in the valley…

Thanks again for the awesome guitar…..jim

I got to tell you that I play twice as often because the guitar is so great and this may sound cornball but I am getting to be a bass demon because of the guitar!

I had a guy come up to me during our last show (I was playing & signing “all my Loving” by the Beatle) he stood at the edge of the stage and stared at me and at the end of the song, gave me the “thumbs up” and disappeared into the crowd.

Later he caught up with me and said: If I played bass I would play like you….It is all the “guitar” (not ashamed to say it!) I can play fast, not look at my hands and blast out lyrics because playing it is effortless, the feel, the spacing of the frets and the balance….I let it go of the guitar to raise my hands (and carry on like a “rock star”) and when I come back to the guitar it is just exactly where I left it!).

I realize I have told you this before but the sound of my guitar in ANYTHING I plug it into sounds amazing…Even in my little 50 watt Yorkville practice amp it sound like what I have always heard the bass sounding like in my head…Full, rich, blooming with SHIZO, pop and authority!

You da Man my friend……..Love your product….It is perfect!

Hey man,

It is without a doubt a fantastic instrument. From my end, I had no idea what I was doing in choosing some of the elements that went into this. I had time to feel it through, and I researched it well, but in the end, I had no idea if it would "work." Well, you alone made it work. I love the sound; I love the feel, and I love the look. However, my favorite thing about this bass is that is feels built - as opposed to "manufactured." There are lovely imperfections that give it life. As a proper compliment it is extremely special, but not precious; it's a player.

You nailed it below: she is "a low & low mid super computer!" Larry created a masterpiece of a pickup, and the ACG/East pre, with it's many weirdnesses, is simply amazing - and it is definitely weird. I don't know how it happened, but we did find a sound somewhere around a Precision and a Wal. The sounds available on this thing are out of this world - yet still punchy and classic. You did an amazing finish on the p/u covers as well - both matching the colors, and leaving the feel of the raw koa. The real surprise though was the neck; the look and feel are remarkable. The feel of the neck reinforces the fact that this does not play or sound like a shortscale bass. It's simply a great bass. I'll have it for the rest of my life.

The process itself has been such a great experience as well. Please keep doing what you're doing.

Stay inspired,

I must say that even though I had almost two years to build this thing up in my head, it exceeded my expectations. I am truly blown away. Jimmy did a fantastic job. It plays great; it looks great; it sounds great, and it is well balanced. The neck is the biggest surprise - the feel is smooth and extremely comfortable. It definitely does not feel (or sound) like a short scale bass.

The range of sounds available on this bass are insane - from sloppy vintage lo-fi all the way to ultra-modern. It is a complicated electronics set-up, but it's surprisingly intuitive.

Pickups: Aero G4jd Type 1 CTPS (spalted koa covers)
Preamp: ACG EQ-02

I couldn't be more happy - I only wished I had this bass from the beginning. I will not be looking for another bass anytime soon.

Hi Jimmy,
The pups and preamp sounds are almost all useable. What I especially like is that even with treble all the way up, there is not that horrible ear bleeding treb sound. I have found that I can dial in too much bass though, but that makes sense. So far I like the sound of the MM pup with the toggle switch on bucker. The other switch setting may be better for certain things, too soon to tell. What wood was the body? Have you ever seen one of those 10 bolt necks? Some boutique guy does them, but I forget who. Yeah this thing is a definite winner. Not really sure how you could tweak it better. What do you think of the Barts and East combo? I really like how the East sounds. Some other preamps sound sterile or colored in a way I don't like. This one is colored, but in a warm way. Me likes...

When I have a few minutes, I will send you a pic.
Cheers, G

Hey Jimmy,

The bass arrived yesterday, and I must say the packing is the best I have ever seen. In fact, I'm glad that I plan to keep it because the thought of trying to duplicate that packing job is daunting indeed.

I am very pleased with the bass. The finish is flawless and the pictures do not do justice the color and appearance. It weighs in at 7 pounds 13 ounces which is perfect. Playing the bass unplugged as I always do with a new instrument, sounds great. The ash body has depth and clarity throughout the entire range. While I prefer flats, the roundwounds are tolerable for the short term. My arthritic hands thank you for the excellent playability. The neck is fast but solid and the short scale allows my short fingers to play the lower register patterns with ease and comfort. Having never played an instrument with EMGs before, I wasn't sure what to expect. Well, they made me smile. They're clear and produce the entire range with authority and no unwanted noise. All in all, this L2 is a very solid instrument and the honeymoon is just beginning. I'm having a hard time putting her down. Thank you for opportunity of owning a Landing Bass. It certainly is the one I've been looking for.
Also, this bass just screams for that white pearloid pickguard. I would like to order one of those too.

Jimmy - I am having a great time with the new bass.
Truly a different animal than the Birdsong Fusion.
I find myself playing more Burt Bacharach and less bluegrass.
Okay, so the Bacharach is Arthur Lee's cover of Little Red Book - you get the idea.
Might have to swap my EA Micro for an Acoustic B200.

One thing that I am having to adjust to is using the pup's as thumb rests. I find that the EMG SA's are bit narrow for that but I will probably get used to it. ------------------ Joseph

It arrived and it is grand. Looks great and sounds great. Very light compared to my Fender Big Block P-bass.

As they say!!!!!!!
You weren't kidding boss!.....
I was out of town when the post office delivered and had to wait till today to go get her.....
Your packing (geeeez Jimmy, don't overdue it or anything ) was superb and it all arrived in excellent condition.
Even my wife, as she heard me wrestling with the packing said, "Wait for me, I want to see this redhead your so interested in too!"
We opened the case together (remember, we live in Utah, that's polygamy country you know.... ).....!
We were amazed at the care and craftsmanship.
Then, we took her to the 'music room' and fired her up......

OH BOY! You weren't lying.... those EMGs are spectacular. All of this out of this extremely lightweight instrument.
In fact, when my wife carried the case after we got it out of the packing, she said, "I thought this was a lightweight bass"....
The case actually weighs more than the guitar...
Should I go on or have you heard it all before.....?
Wait till the band hears this one...
You're are an amazing fellow Mr. Jimmy Wilson.....

She just arrived without a scratch.

I have read reviews on Talk Bass and listened to people say how the pictures just didn't do justice to the color and overall appearance and they were absolutely right.

I don't have a lot of time right now with a six man crew outside looking for direction but I had to plug her in and play a little and after 5 minutes I am quite impressed. The weekend is upon me which means a couple of 16 to 18 hour days but I am going to find some time to sit down and play either tonight or tomorrow and will give you a much better review but you can rest assured that it is going to be a good one from what I have seen and heard so far.

I couldn't wait, I got my crew working and told them that I had a couple of phone calls to make (he, he, he) and sat down with my new bass.

I am impressed. I have only had one other bass that had active electronics and that was an Ibanez SR825 and did not like the sound at all. I was apprehensive about the electronics as well as the light gauge strings (I usually use medium to heavy to get the sound that I like) but decided to take your recommendations and I am happy that I did. The light strings are easy to play and the electronics allow me to dial in the sound that I like.

I have a lot more experimenting to do over the course of the next few weeks and am sure that I will like what I find. Thanks for a wonderful instrument. When I get a bit of time you can be sure that I will leave some positive reviews on all of the forums.

Hey Jimmy,

I finally had a chance to get some serious playtime in with the new T-Bass. I've got to hand it to you...she's a great bass. You were right, I also hear some of that vintage jazz bass tone in her. Aero did a superb job on the pickups as well.

I did change the strings. After hearing the vintage tone she had (& now I'm joining a group doing blues, R&B & jazz)...I decided to put a set of Fender black nylon tape-wounds on her. These are round-wounds that are covered with thin nylon, so they have more punch and clarity than regular flats. Very vintage, yet powerful/punchy sound! I'll send you some pics soon...She also looks great with the black stings (maybe a future variant of the "red package"?).

Thanks again ------ Jorge

All I can say is Wow!...... what a fantastic instrument you have created!

But before I go on here is the scoop.
I was able to pick up the bass Saturday after calling the post office. This time when I called they were
able to locate the package......and as it turns out, it had been there for a couple of days. They told me that
there should have been a notice of attempted delivery....but I never got one, so I assumed it was just running
a little late. Anyway, I picked it up Saturday right before going to a gig. I only had time to open the package
and look at the bass for 30 seconds before I had to leave for the gig(that was hard). I left the bass safely at
home and did not get to give her a test run till Sunday morning.

Jimmy the L30T is fabulous. She plays effortlessly, has a myriad of usable tones, looks great while doing it, and
although she is on the light side in weight compared to my other basses.....she is rock solid. Thanks for a well
crafted instrument. She will be my number one player, and an awesome companion in my musical journey. Wish
you much success to you and your business. Take care brother. It's time to make some music!

Hello Jimmi,

The marvellous and wanderful bass is already here!!! I fetched her in the afternoon at the customs, then I unpacked her...

Really great optic great handling wonderful!! Than I played her with my Markbass Tube Head and my 4x10 SWR Marcus Miller Box: wonderful sound in all positions!!! Jazz: like the typical Pastorius sounding we say "knurrend und singend" gleichzeitig!

Midle position: warm and full much of characteristik big sounding Precision: The fat, full and warm sounding of the 70ies!!!

And then whining mawahhhh!!! We say weinend und singend! marvelous!

The shortscale neck is really comfortable and smooth to handle! And then I played and played and played....!!!

I am really happy! It was very exciting and a great pleasure to be in contact with you!!!

Some pictures will follow!

One more Question: What kind of poolish can I use for the neck and fretboard?

Thank you very much! Yours sincerely! --- Phil

Hey Jimmy,

Just took my L30P fretless out of the case a little while ago and Wow !!! Pictures really don't capture the incredible finish and beauty of this bass. The red finish really pops ! Wish I had the right adjectives to describe it. I think I could just sit here and stare at it for hours but it's made for playing and that's what I've been doing. The EMG's are very powerful and bright but I think with the brand new strings it will be a little bright until they get played for a while. Massive low end. Neck feels great, nice and smooth and perfect size for my smaller hands. Balance is perfect, no neck dive and nice and light weight. Hardware looks great and I really like the larger style tuners. When I first saw a pic of them I though they looked kind of big but in person they are not and are easier for tuning than the smaller ones.
Thanks again for the great bass and great service. -- Tony

Hi Jimmy

I'm happy to report that the bass has arrived without incident.

I took her right from the post office to a rehearsal. Nice bass! Definitely looks fantastic. The action is great (ie nice and low with no buzz). The finish is really cool and I'm going to do my best to keep it looking in top condition. The tone was on the bright side and I did roll off the tone knob all the way. However, I think alot of that has to do with the new Chromes. I think I'm going to put my 3 year old Chromes on there and I'm betting that will take alot of that zing out. I found my current strap is too short with this bass so I'll buy a new longer one. At rehearsal the bass was on my upper chest too much and it was not ideal in terms of combfort like that. I'm sure I'll work that all out and get her sitting nicely

You built me a great bass and I thank you. It will likely be my last bass for a long, long time.

take care --- torin

I’m so happy to have it. I brought it into work and showed a guitar playing friend who is really savvy about good quality instruments and he was very impressed.

… I tried playing (with fingers) in different positions… near neck, over pickup, near bridge… great sounds.

Dear Jimmy,

I thought I would give you an update on my bass. All is going well, I really enjoy playing it. The choice of 32 inch scale is really right for me. The pickups sound great, I've never had really high end pickups on a bass and I love how punchy they are. You were right, they are very quiet and I can easily record direct with them if I want. I also like the tuners too, very easy to turn. Everyone loves how the bass looks, the black edging is very tasteful and the pick guard is just the right size.

One interesting thing is your use of the Stratocaster type switch. I really love this, I can easily switch from a punchy sound using the two pickups, to a nice warm sound using the neck pickup alone, very clever of you.

I'm playing it right now thru a 360 watt stereo amp with a 15, 12 & 2-10s. It sounds like it growls right before it kicks you in the balls! LOL!

Yeah...the neck pup is right where I wanted it. You know, after playing the L300s & some Tele basses with a humbucker way up by the neck, I really started to question the more midway placement of the neck pup on the Stu Hamm. I figured that putting the top pup closer to the neck was going to give it more bottom...but still keeping the punch, especially with the other pups fired up. The L300 convinced me more than any other bass that this would work! The exception is the Gibsons with a "mudbucker" at the neck...but I doubted that would happen with an EMG.

It's amazing how articulate it stays even with that top pup near the neck. I was just riffing through Ramble On by Zep. It's wild how deep it goes on the low notes...but then is ringing clear as a bell on the high riffs. I love this bass!

Tried bass out yesterday. It gives me all the sounds I wanted. It
does exactly what I had hoped for and a bit more. It now sounds
very punchy and the E string sounds the same whether I pluck up
or down. On most short scales the E sounds better when you use
your thumb and pluck down. Having the .100 strings also makes it
easier and faster for my little fingers, but keeps the sound thumpy.
I would say that it comes closer to a 34" bass sound than even the Japan 32"
basses do. I attribute all of this to the pickups. I feel they are very well
suited for me. >>>>>>>> BARN

Hey Jimmy -

I apologize for taking so long to write, but it has been a busy month with work and a friend's wedding, along with planning a trip back east to visit my family.

My L32P arrived the day before I was leaving town for the weekend, so the whole weekend was filled with thoughts of playing my new bass. The packaging was great, and the bass was in perfect condition when it arrived. I had it sent to my father-in-law's house, and I felt like Ralphie from the movie a Christmas Story as I opened it.

I knew that it was going to be beautiful, but I was still amazed when I opened the case and there it was! The amber on the body and the ancient amber treatment of the neck are amazing! The extra shot of red on the body really sets it off too. And what can I say about the new headstock that you don't already know? It is awesome! It's very sleek and the design is classic.

After I stared with pure delight at the bass for what must have seemed like forever to father-in-law, I picked it up and played unplugged for a couple of minutes and was amazed yet again. The neck is super-fast and the instrument is very well balanced. At this point, I was bursting at the seams to get it home and plug it in.

I got it home and plugged it directly into my computer, and dialed up my favorite P-bass sound. My first reaction was "Wow!". It roars! But with a quick tweak of the EQ it can whisper too. I've owned a few p-basses, and this is far and away the best sounding one I've ever heard.

Later, I took it to my buddies house and we played for a while and it sounded great. It sits so nicely in the mix.

Jimmy, this bass is a work of art and I couldn't be happier with it. Thank you so much!

This looks way better than I could have ever imagined. I could tell from the photos that I was going to love it, but I had no idea how much. Those extra coats of poly give the finish such depth. And the tint (or hue or whatever) that you used for the amber really brings out the absolute best that this less-than-premium alder body could be. This thing is stunning.

Hi Jimmy,

Just a quick note to let you know I got the bass today. She's
gorgeous. She's stunning! I'll write more later because I'd rather be
playing the bass than typing on the computer, if you know what I mean.
But my initial impressions: The finish of the back of the neck and the
fingerboard are exactly what I consider ideal. I don't recall our
having a discussion about this, I guess because I forgot to ask. But
you read my mind! The rosewood is finished in such a way that there's a
wee bit of resistance, which is EXACTLY what I wanted. And I like the
amount of curvature of the fingerboard (radius?) The balance is great.
The bottom end is wonderful--not overpowering, but tight and punchy.
The midrange character of the pickup/preamp is even better than I
expected. I may try to lower the action just a hair, which I could
undo if it doesn't work out. I think these strings were a good way to
go, because they're a tad looser than average.

Thanks again! I'll write more later.
Cheers Michael

It worked! I turned all of the bridge height hex screws
counter-clockwise by exactly one turn, and it's just right. Anything
lower would probably be too low and a bit "clanky". This bass is
amazing! It's an almost effortless playing experience. My energies can
be put into expression, intonation, and mawahhhh rather than fighting
the taughtness of strings. I think I better order a couple more sets of
theses strings to make sure I have 'em.

So far I find the neutral positions on the EQ to be best. I assume
that's the equiv. of having a passive P-bass with the tone control full
open? But that's just with this amp in this room. There undoubtedly
will be occasions where I will need to boost or cut the lows or the
highs. It's quite smooth, warm, and hi-fidelity all at the same time.

You do outstanding work ----- Cheers Michael

I love the mixed cream-white color with the red pick-guard. I've played her so far through a Trace Elliot head with a Hartke 410 then with an old Fender Bassman 410. Pure punch & growl all the way! I can't wait to play her through the SVT later.

Like the other basses I've gotten from you, we've got another winner.

Thanks so much. ------ Jorge

Jimmy Wilson's service is above and beyond anything a reasonable human should expect from a luthier. His attention to detail and
customization reflects in the quality instruments you can expect from a "Jimmy Wilson Creation". My Dark Star LDS2 is the most tonally versatile passive bass I've ever laid hands on, which is great because touching her feels so good! The neck on a Landing bass is polished to a smoothness only previously felt in a Modulus carbon fiber neck. Fred Hammon's Dark Star Pickups are to die for-- Tonally, they cannot be beat. Get a set and you'll never go back. I cannot stress the quality of workmanship and customer service enough. Never once was this project a hassle; more often than not it was good for a laugh.
Jimmy, I will definitely be back for another bass-- you're a glimpse at what customer service should be.

Regards-- Justin Pray LDS2 owner and DarkStar/Landing aficionado.

Man O' Man ! What a fantastic bass ! Took it to our first band practice since July (vacations, etc) and they were all looking at it and then I started on "Badge" and blew theirs and my socks off. It sounded just like the record, just like an EBO and then on another song it was a Jazz Bass. And that neck is fab, so smooth and fast I can't believe how good it made me sound. Wow, I'm really happy I found you and your basses and that we persevered to finally create "my" bass. I thought my other custom ($2600+) bass was good (more of a modern sound) but this bass has the sound I've been looking for. I can just hear myself plugged into an SVT. "Heaven, I'm in Heaven". . ............................I wish I had an SVT but I have a Sansamp and a small GK 150mbe and that bass is just killer through that small rig. Thanks Jimmy, I'll be passing out your business cards and saving for another bass.

Hey Jimmy,

I got the Bass last Saturday - AMAZING. Thank you. She looks good, plays good and feels good. You and Bill more than met my expectations. I could go on and on about the actual product, but what I want really want to thank you for is the service.

I have never dealt with a better individual luthier who has provided so much care in communicating with his customer. I was blown away. Not only did you listen to my "crack-pot" ideas, you entertained them. Even though some ideas did not work out in the end it meant quite a lot to me that you even considered them. Your constant communication throughout would put most customer service centers to shame. It has been a pleasure and I hope to be your customer again in the future.

. . . oh, and did I mention that the bass is ridiculously, awesome!

Thank you Jimmy - you make me smile each day when I pull my landing out of the case.

p.s. Bill is a badass!

Hi Jimmy,
Well what can I say. SHE IS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!! Arrived this morning. I have not put her down since. I can honestly say, that having owned Ricks, Stingray/Sterling, P & J basses to name but a few, THIS IS JUST THE BEST! I am thrilled and cannot believe how great this L2 really is. She just sounds fantastic, looks fantastic and plays even better. I really have never had an instrument of this quality. It truly does sound and play better than any bass I have ever played. I can only thank you sincerely for all of your hard work and contact with me over the past few months. THANK YOU! Please feel free to post this on your site Jimmy and I will certainly be spreading the Landing / Jimmy Wilson name about!!!!!
You are a star. Many many thanks.

Greetings Jimmy, --------- Well...I've had the opportunity to put the L30P through her paces. I've gotta admit that she's even more than I expected. Although I picked her up as a "day to day" bass...mainly for club gigs & jams, she's turned out to be another Landing gem! She has a nice growl & punch to her. With the active electronics, she can also pump out the low end as if she were a long-scale bass. I've also had some compliments regarding the natural finish...nice piece of wood!

Hi Jimmy,

Sorry about the delays in getting back to you about these basses, but as you know, I've had a lot going on.

As with the other instruments I've gotten from you, these babies are gems! The Custom Shop L2 is amazingly versatile with a fantastic tonal range. The drop-D tuner is also a great touch because, as I've mentioned to you, I sometimes like to do stuff in this alternative tuning. The finish looks even better in person than in the pics.

The LDS2 is also outstanding. The Dark Star pickups sound fat and punchy. When I saw the pics I was reminded of the big humbuckers like the neck pickups on the Gibson EB series basses...but the Dark Stars are much more articulate, while maintaining the fat bottom end. I've gotten some great compliments on the Custom CROC pickguard...very cool looking in person!

If you post this, I want anybody reading this to feel free to see how many Landing basses I've added to my instrument collection and reviewed. Every bass is special in it's own way and I truly enjoy playing them even more than the other "big name" instruments in my collection.

Thanks! ---------- Jorge

I'm very sorry to let you wait.
But finally "The bass has landed !"

On February 24th Georges has got his beautiful instrument. It has been in the Belgian customs for quiet a while.
So, this is the reason for the long delay…

I must say that he's VERY proud !
He came the next day to show his bass and even I was impressed !

Thanks very much again…I've put some pics in the mail.

You're Welcome Jimmy.

I sing the praises of this bass to everyone I know, I wish my playing did it justice. Plays like a dream, sounds great played direct or with it's own amp and the looks speak for themselves. Amazing instrument Jimmy.

I used a sansamp with it and junked it for just a straight direct box (Fatpro Technologies) The sansamp covered up the tone of the bass. I really do not like for the amp to add anything to this bass's sound. A clean amp and this bass is all you need. I have a self-contained PA by Yorkville with a 15 and a horn. This bass sounds great plugged directly into it. I use a Boss LMB compression pedal to cover up my sloppiness and the tone is awesome straight out of the PA.

Since it's tuned as a piccolo bass (although I re-tuned the lowest string to drop-D), I've played it through my SVT with a 4-10 cabinet for the bass tones and a Marshall 50 watt half stack for stuff in the guitar range. Hey Jimmy,

I received the L300 today and was floored by the quality of this bass. I played it through various amp & cabinet combos.....I couldn't make this baby sound bad even if I wanted to!

Here's the beauty...As you know, I have a pretty good collection of axes. This is how the L300 compares:

The body contour & size feels as nice as any of my American Strats (but this is a bass). It has the piano-like highs & mids of my Ricks, but with an even faster neck. The growl is comparable to my favorite P-basses...but with even more punch thanks to the active electronics. The short scale neck blows away my SG, EBO & Mustang basses (not to mention the fact that the latter basses aren't even in the same ballpark as the L300 when it comes to tonal range). When you hold and play the L300 it feels almost like a baritone scale guitar (but also blows away my baritone Strat Sub-Sonic, Jag & Dano).

I'm looking forward to the next L300 with the customized wiring that you're working on, as well as the Dark Star-Synth bass that we've been discussing as a custom project.

Thanks Jimmy! ---- Jorge

Hi Jimmy,

I have a buddy at the post office who let me come in early this morning to pick up my baby. I must say that it is everything you promised and more. It is the most beautiful instrument I have ever seen, and my brother owns a Rick 360 guitar in the Fireglow finish, which now takes a distant second place.

I didn't have alot of time to play with her this morning, but after tuning her up and plugging her in I can say that she sounds terrific. I only wish my playing was up to the task. The phase switch adds brightness and when you turn it off, you get that growl. I only played her with the blade switch in positions 2 and 4, so I have not yet begun to explore the tonal capabilities yet.

What really surprised me about her is how small she is. I placed her in a guitar stand next to my strat and she is only about 3 inches longer. This is a really petite gal, and it is a joy to strap on.

The finish is outstanding and the action is unbelievable. The neck is smooth and fast.

The pickguard has to be seen in person to really be appreciated. The way it reflects light as you move around is really something. You made a great choice with Jeannie.

Needless to say Jimmy I am very pleased and I can't wait to get home tonight to play her.

Talk to you later ------------- Will

Subject: MY L2

Jimmy, I wanted to send a comment on my L2 for other perspective customers to ponder. First and foremost having a landing bass made for you takes time. The quality goes in before the name goes on. I knew I wanted a new bass. After playing my Aria Pro 2 for 25 years it had some heavy wear. Playing high end basses in the music stores just didn't impress me. I wanted some better quality than my old bass. What I found was over 20 years later the workmanship wasn't as good even with all our high tech today. I decided I wanted a 30.5 scale. As I didn't want to reach all night long playing. Fender and Gibson make a short scale but they are made for the beginner player really, I wanted a bass with horsepower. I contacted Jimmy Wilson in January. We chatted back and forth until March. Because I was having surgery I didn't want to order as I didn't want to commit if I ended up physically challenged.
By May, I ordered my L2. Jimmy let me pick out every detail. I ordered exactly what I wanted for everything. One exception I wanted diamond fret markers, Jimmy wasn't able to do that. I understand how hard that is for any builder. Special cutters!!!!!!. Jimmy, is a single man building basses, He cuts out like 5 guitar bodies and necks at once. Then he works on all for them at different stages in the process. So don't expect him to drop everyone's order for you. It took a total of 8 weeks for mine. I knew it would. Jimmy won't hurry the process and produce anything but the perfect bass, I went down and toured his business, He is so dedicated to what he does. He puts several coats of clear finish on and buffs the heck out of it. My bass was so mirror finish you can see clouds in the photos he took, Oh, did I forget, You will have lots of photos sent to you on each step of the way.
Jimmy, gave me what commerial companies couldn't I high quality crafted bass with the absolute best hardware and electronics. All for the price range of an American made Jazz only much better.'
I have played three shows since I picked it up. The DC35's really brought the best out of our high end PA. I went out front and listened on a driving rock song, It was then I knew I made the right choice. Thanks Landingbass. I got what I wanted and what Jimmy promised. My advice for bassists. Check out Landing Bass. This was the best decision I made in my music career.

This thing is unbelievable! The DarkStar pickups have got to be the ultimate single coils! I absolutely love the way the bass sounds-- think Geddy Lee's sound with that black Fender! That's it!

My band is on a hiatus for a couple months but we got together this week so I got to hear it in the mix and with the full amp/PA set up-- it is too good! Way better than I even expected it to be. Theses pickups sound pretty good when played solo-bass but they really come into their own in the mix. GGGRRRRRRRROWL!!!

Good versatility too-- neck pickup solo is more of a P-bass sound, round, full and thumpy. Solo the bridge pickup and you get a nice 'burpy' tone. Both together and you get that huge punchy, growly, tone I mentioned above. Very cool set range of tones available.

Nice job on the installation too. The guard looks great-- I like the mud tort even better than the red tort that was on it before. The bass just looks really great with the two DarkStars, and the vintage look of the knobs is right on the money!

IMO, any of your customers who choose the DarkStar option are bound to be pleased. I LOVE MY LANDING BASS!

Thanks a million,

I finally filled out a review of my L1 at Harmony Centrol. I have listed the link below. Don't get PO'ed at me, but I didn't give it straight 10's. I very easily could have since there is nothing about my L1 that I am dissatisfied with, but I thought the review would be a little unbelievable if it was all 10's (especially since the other two reviews on file are all 10's).

I have never in my life named one of my instruments. I would have laughed myself silly if anyone had suggested something like that to me before. However, my L1 is now "Baby" or "Pretty Baby" if I am in an expansive mood. With or without a name it is a member of my family now.

Hope things are well with you and that you have a good holiday season. ---------------- MIKE

I would like to tell you how happy I am with my new custom amber bass. For the past three years I have tried to find "MY TONE". By using the one and jazz pickup combo, a great big deep tone is created. Finally I found it! Thanks for all the work you had to put into this project. The results are from a real "old school" custom shop builder. Great Job! Its like buying a piece of art that you can play. Can't wait to work with you on a new project.

Thanks, Jimmy!!! I was down in my basment again last night watching the Tigers/White Sox ballgame and playing. I couldn't put it down it sounds so great. And the neck and fretboard are so great feeling and so smooth and fast. The sustain is just so awesome. I think it outstrips the Ibanez SRX705 I had which was a neck thru. It is a fantastic instrument.

I better quit, I'm beginning to gush again. To cap it all, I have never been the type to name my axes. But I am seriously trying to think of a decent name. I think this baby deserves to have a name.

Just a note to say thanks for the L-300! It is everything I hoped it would be. And thanks for your very good response to all of my requests. And there were quite a lot of them eh? You did not fight me on any of them or make me feel like an idiot for asking about any of those ideas.
I have just switched back to bass from playing guitar the last fifteen years and I needed a super easy playable short scale bass so I wouldn't have to work so hard after being used to the guitar neck size. I looked into the usual Mustangs and EBO's and a few others and then came across your website. After talking with you and after calling a couple of your Landing owners I decided to make the upgrade to your bass. It was money back guaranteed so how could I lose? Anyway, the praise from your previous clients was overwhelming so I ordered away.
What I was the most pleased with was the way that you always answered your phone (unless completely immersed in the finishing process). And always quickly answered emails. But most of all it was all the pictures you sent me of all the woods, sample colors, logo ideas, everything to make me feel like a part of the project. That's what I appreciated the most.
You are the friendliest and nicest builder I have ever had the pleasure to have known. You make the best bass period. And you really care about each bass as if they were your own. And best of all you really listen.

I am very fortunate to have come across your website and I love my L-300!

Thank you my good man! ------------------------------- Rick NesSmith

The bass is really fitting like a glove now. It's remarkable how much better a bass or guitar can actually play and even seem to fit your hands better when you are getting that "sound" you want. It's always so much more inspiring to your creative playing. I can't hardly miss now when I'm playing fast run ideas all over the place. It's almost too easy sometimes. Like my hands are going to fly off the neck.

great and there was no damage. The bass is absolutely
gorgeous. I'm especially impressed with the subtle

Hi Jimmy,

Got it just fine @ 1:23 this afternoon. Shipping box was perfect, not even a dent in the cardboard... sure glad we went with U.P.S,!! ( compared to the 2 packages we received via the post office in the last couple of weeks that were bashed in, with damaged contents in one).

The L532 & case both arrived in perfect condition... and I do mean _perfect_! I had high hopes & expectations based on your reputation, but this bass even exceeded what I was expecting. The pictures just can't convey the beauty of the blue with the wood grain showing thru, or how great the black hardware ties it together with the black "burst"
edges. And the neck, WOW! ...the birdseye is just gorgeous!! Your "smooth" is darn right slick, even the first comment from my wife was amazement on how "_smooth_" the neck feels... great work!

Love the set-up and NanoWebs, too. And I'm so glad I went with the EMG Jazz pups, this bass has exactly the tone I was looking for in a 5 string... and it plays like a dream, Jimmy... THANKS!!

You've got one very happy camper here, for sure..... beats any 5 string I've ever tried. You can bet any of my future basses will be "Landing's"!!

Feel free to use any part of this in your "comments'" section, Jimmy ...I mean every word of it, this is one FANTASTIC FIVE!...and you were a joy to work with on this!

Thanks again,

Subject: my L332

After all this time, I'm still having the same problem I complained to you about over a year ago-- this bass is keeping me awake way too late at night when I should be sleeping! ;-))

Man, I was just thinking about you and thought I'd touch bass to say that the bass is doing just great. No problems at all, action is still just right (stable neck-- it's not even been adjusted since you set it up), stays in tune all the time, quiet as mouse when it should be, and tons of gain when you want.

The L332 continues to be my favorite bass to play. It's the one I grab at home for practice because it is so comfortable and easy to play, and yet gets more use on stage than my other basses because it sounds so good. I a/b'd it last Monday at rehersal with my Fender J bass (hot rodded-- has noiseless J pickups and an Aguilar onboard preamp). Afterwards, I asked the sound man which bass sounded better. He said "no contest-- the white one "(L332). He said it was a lot fuller, had more punch and attack.

The three pickup system is a stroke of genius. I love the controls layout-- simple, so I can easily adjust on the fly, but versatile so I can get a lot different tones. The 5 way switch is really the key. I can get great tone in any of the 5 positions with only a little change on the bass and treble controls. Very cool setup!

Jimmy, when it comes to making great basses, you are the man in my book. I feel like the L332 would have been a bargain at twice the price. Keep up the good work!

Thanks - Matt

PS: Maybe it's a little vain to say it but, in my opinion, there's not a better looking example of a Landing bass than mine. That vintage white/tort combo is just a great classic look. You worked hard to get the tone of the white just right and it paid off.

Dropped you a line a week or two ago regarding the older L1 I picked up on ebay, thanks for the response. Sorry for the delay, but my computer chose to eat itself last week. I am really quite pleased with the instrument. So far it has performed excellently. The single pickup has a range of tone that I have not really seen on other single pickup instruments and varying my playing position has allowed a world of different sounds from this little bass. A new set of strings and a bit of cleaning later and I am happier with this bass than I have been with any other bass (with the constant tinkering I usually do). Thanks again for producing this wonderful little bass and keep them coming, I'll have to buy a new one from you one of these days!!!

Well, I finally received Kelly's L2 bass yesterday via Fed Ex. It was pretty fast delivery....Well, here are my reviews....

OMG, THE L2 BASS IS AWESOME!!!!!! I can't believe how easy it is to play and the TONE is incredible. Seriously, I can't believe a short scale bass could sound that great....I about blew the house down...LOL!!!!! I like the fact that I can get so many different types of tones...Plus, I really like how the strings just seem to resonate like a bell tone.....The string spacing is awesome as well....I couldn't put the damn bass down last night...And, I love the color....THE CRAFTMANSHIP is by far superb!!!!

I currently own and Ibanez Sound Gear Bass however, after playing the L2, I am going to sell the Ibanez....I really have no need for it....I am hoping that in the future you can built me that pink 5 string bass with pearly white pickguard that we briefly discussed.

Hi Jimmy,
I'd like to get another L1 Lefty - same Ash body as before.
All black body, black headstock, black hardware,
dark ebony fretboard, no inlaid fretboard dots - only side dots.
This will be an L1 in a kind of stealth style - all black.
Landing Bass logo on headstock could be in metalic silver
or it could be skipped - but I definitely don't want it in white.
Same Dean Markley strings Light Flatwound 45-100
What's my price? Also, how long for delivery?
I'll be taking my L1 to May 6-9

I'm really enjoying my L1 - thanks.

I've played the L2 enough to at least give you my initial thoughts.

This is the best fit I've found so far. The quality is great. I love the neck, both the feel and the shape. And, with my small hands the length is just right. The pickups are really nice, and I can leave it plugged in with no batteries to mess with. The controls are simple...turn on the pickups where you want them and play. The weight, of lack thereof, is a welcome relief to my back and shoulder. In short, it sounds and plays as well as I could have hoped for. Oh yeah, the gig bag is great. One visual suggestion if it's feasible. The logo "L" would look really good in place of the 2 dots on the fretboard at the 12th fret.

I hope to play it Sunday and will try to round up a digital photo and email it to you soon. Thanks for building a super quality product. When I have a few minutes I'll put together a well-worded kudo for your web site comments section.

Thank you --------- Pastor Audie Long

Hi Jim,

Just got it. I'm speechless! The color with the touch of black burst came out better than I could of dreamed . It's lighter and easier to play than the Fender Jazz. I will also write up a glowing review at harmony central and another bass forum that I belong to.

I'm sorry, I've been really swamped here at work. But I have plugged that bad boy in, and this bass sings. I played it thru a vox T-100 cab, and an Aguilar 1-12 cab and when you hit the E string it sounds like you've plucked an E on a grand piano. Beautiful!!!! I've never heard this type of tone on an electric bass, it is like tone so transparent, you can hear thru it. The sound has feel to it. So now my main basses are my L-2 and My L-4,  I'm selling the Warwick, my J-bass stays (since I did build it). I am totally BLOWN AWAY by these basses. Great job Jimmy, I'll be talking to you soon.

Hi Jimmy!

The bass arrived yesterday, which I must say is perfect timing, since I am on
vacaion from work this week (spending a relaxing week at home)! The instrument is
breathtaking--I have already had friends ask about it! The set up is perfect--exactly what I wanted. The neck is quite comfortable and the playability outstanding. I also love how I can get a mellow, almost upright tone, straight ahead rock, thrash metal and funk sound from it! I would have written you sooner, but I have been playing this thing for hours! I couldn't be more pleased at this point, and will write again when I have settled into a routine and know a little more.
Many thanks for the bass--you did a beautiful job with it. I can, indeed,
comb my hair by looking at the finish--it is that smooth! I am already thinking about what I want in my next bass (from you, of course!)

Feel free to publish my comments !

Suggestion: it might be nice to add sound files to your web site, showing all

bass after they hear a sound clip.

See you soon!

I’ve been playing around with the L-2, side by side with my Warwick, and a custom J-bass I built in 89. Having turned 50, I’ve found that not all venues allow you to sit with correct playing position. I’ve found that the old joints tend to get what for lack of better words a repetative task pain. But playing the L-2 is like playing my Tele, no strain, and now I’m having a lot of fun, especially not being stuck in a seated position trying to maintain a correct hand-fretboard position. And that’s only the half of it. I thought I’ed sacrifice great sound, for a bass that was more comfortable. Not the case, when we talked and told you I needed a bass with bell tone, that sang. Especially for the pop and slap, but it also has an in-your-face sound that can let you step up front during the gig. The EMG’s make the bass articulate, not muddy or not so well defined, may be the word is precise.

Your L-2 is now my main bass.  Jimmy, we will be talking soon !

GREAT JOB !!!       Dave Hernandez

Dear Jimmy,
                      Love my L2.
Scott Caldwell , Lakeland, FL.

Hi Jimmy!   Long time no talk to! Hope all is going well for you. Judging by your
website, you're keeping busy. So am I, and still loving my blue & gold
Lil' Monster! I'm doing a variety of things with it. I just did a big
band gig last weekend for the Music Library Association national
conference; back in the fall I did a gospel concert with the Austin Civic
Chorus joined with several black Baptist church choirs; and I'm playing
regularly with an 8-piece band called Goose Gumbo, which does a mix of
jazz, swing, R&B and classic rock. Everywhere I show up to play with
musicians I haven't met before, they are always blown away by my bass --
both with the sound and its looks.

The Broken Spoke is a legendary old-time country honky-tonk here in
Austin. "Just Plain Folks" is a worldwide organization of independent
(unsigned) musicians and music industry people, founded by a former
corporate executive determined to give these folks (who are often shut out
of the mainstream music industry) an opportunity to be heard and to learn
from each other. It's pretty cool. Some images show members of Goose
Gumbo rockin' out, showcasing two prizewinning songs of our pianist,
Marilyn Rucker.

All best wishes,

Hi Jimmy,

I am very pleased to let you know the bass arrived safely today, and it is a beauty!! You now have a customer for life!! How do you create such wonderful instruments at such reasonable prices? I have waited a long time to own a well-made short-scale bass without spending mega bucks on a total custom job!! Everything about this bass is crafted with care and speaks of quality. The action is great, the construction rock solid, and the hardware top notch. Oh, and it looks pretty, too!
Some claim that short-scale basses lack in the tone department. Not this bass, it has awesome sound and versatility! I play with a 25 member orchestra and this bass will have no problem handling the horns and drums!!

I can't wait to order my next bass!! It will probably be a fretless, sometime around tax return time.

Thanks again -----------Karen

Is this a great bass or what? WOW!! Jimmy, what am I going to do when I
have a whole stable of your basses and I have to get rid of all my other
basses? Will I feel sad that they just weren't up to Landing standards?
Nope, I'll just be grateful every day that I found you.

I love this bass. It has tone to die for. Once again you've left me
speechless. Thanks for another wonderful bass. Oh, and beyond how it
sounds it balances perfectly, plays so easily and looks gorgeous. Really a
stunner. Sheesh, I don't know how you do it. But I'm glad you do.

Yours gratefully ----------- L.N.

The finest bass I have had the privilege of touching.

Thank you again, Jimmy. -- Frank

The bass arrived safely on Friday and you're right,
she is a beauty! I couldn't put it down on Saturday.
I must say, I thought I would need a good six months
before I was confident enough on a fretless, but it
was really no problem. In fact, I left my other bass
at home on Sunday and went for it and played the
fretless live. I play in a church praise band and
leave my amp at the church, so I wasn't able to plug
plug it in until Sunday. I must say, my pleasure
turned to joy when I plugged it in and heard it
sing! Those EMG's are great. I set up the action for
just enough of that fretless 'brauw' sound and it is

I have a $4K Alembic and although the craftsmanship
is excellent, I was never really satisfied with the
sound. I've decided to specialize in fretless and
with the playability and tone of your instrument,
I'm going to sell the Alembic.

Here's to you and looking forward to the 5 string
prototype. Have a great Spring and get a hold of me
when you start working on the proto.

Best Regards    --- Ken

DO YOU BELIEVE THE BASS IS HERE ALREADY? OH WOW! Jimmy, it's beautiful. The action is wonderful and it has a really deep sound. I'M GOING TO GO OVER IT TONIGHT WHEN I GET HOME AND TUNE IT UP AND JUST WAIL. IT IS SOOOOO SWEET!!!

The tone is very pure, and it just sings. It sounds GREAT!!! The neck is
evenly toned, the strings have good sustain and the sound is rich and, well,
I'll say it again, pure. It is a pleasure to hear such beautiful tone!
Great bottom end, too. Like I said -- TONE and BOO-TAY! And the B string
is not at all floppy, it is right in there with the rest of them. I can't
say as much for some "name brand" basses I have! It plays especially nicely
when your right hand position is between the pickups, a little closer to the
bridge pickup. Yum!

The case is really cool - such a nice size, not too huge.WHAT A TREAT!!!!!!!THANK YOU! THANK YOU!!O MASTER OF BASS LUTHIERY!!!!!!!!!!

Got her last night. Just as I expected, a fantastic job! Absolutely perfect! The back is 100% perfect too! Thank
you for your extra work. My wife was pretty amazed, and she doesn't really care about guitars! I got her together
in a whilwind of compulsive behaviour last night and she is AWESOME. I'm letting the strings and the trem get
used to eachother. I want to take a picture outside in the sunlight to get the full effect - I will send to you ASAP.
Thank you again sir and I will not hesitate to call on you again when my instruments need work.
Hi Jimmy
- Thanks for the following up. I love the bass -- play it all
the time.
Thanks for checking in.   ----------- Frank

I'm playing your bass exclusively. It sounds so great. I'm
starting to thin the herd -- sold my '76 Tbird on Wednesday. I'll miss it
but it feels good -- the guy will gig it and he's a hardcore Tbird
collector. He's wild.

I am enjoying the tone of the guitar, the ease of playing it, all the things
I mentiioned before. It works well for different styles, too.

Just don't know how to better express how ECSTATIC I am and how
glad I am that I have this guitar.

Hi Jimmy - I love the new bass. I just find my hands wandering sometimes now that I do
not have frets. Just have to get used to it, but she sounds like a dream.
- Jim
Hi Jimmy,

I love the bass! She is now gigging in Hartford, CT at places like 125
Riverside Dr., Coaches, Arch Street Tavern, The Federal, Troutbrook, and many
others that I am sure you have never heard of, but the bigger bar venues in
my state. I play in a band DONKEY HOTEY, and the L1 has been a great
addition. We play everything from Green Day to Garth Brooks, Violent Femmes
to Bob Dylan, Play that Funky Music White Boy to Sweet Home Chicago, so the
guitar is experiencing quite a variety of music. I was planning on also
buying an Ampeg and Danelectro short scale, but I changed my mind. I will
contact you in the future about making a custom bass for me.
Thanks for a great creation!

Jimmy - Sorry I haven't gotten back to you. Bass actually showed up on Thursday but I was recovering from an emergency root canel.  Didn't really unpack it until Saturday. It is beautiful and it sounds just as good as it looks. We played a party this weekend, as soon as I get some pictures I'll send them. How often do I need to replace the batterys?   Love the neck !!!!!!   Never touched a bass that fit my hands better.   Thanks ------ Kurt
Sorry it has been so long since I've written you... this bass rules! It is easy to play, and I don't have to crank on the strings (I'm learning - hahaha)! I really love to play worship music and I absolutely love the sweetness in this guitars sound...brighten it up and play soft. When I want to rock, I just hit the bottom end and dig deep... you're right, the 95's work very well. A couple of years (or less, hehehe) and I would like to try your long scale. Again... thanks a million for helping out... I picked a winner of a guitar!    --Vin

Oh yes -- all the guys love my little bass guitar. And NO problem with it
holding up the whole band, which consists of 6 saxophones, 5 trumpets, 5
trombones, 2 pianists, a drummer, a Latin percussionist, and a guitarist!

All the best wishes -------------------------------- D. H.

Hi Jimmy,
I have fallen in love with the bass. The bass is an incredable bargain. I like the size and the looks of it. It has such a variety of tones and I'm still trying to find them all. Your workmanship is outstanding. After I play out with it I will get back to you. Enjoy your weekend. Gary Stacey

She's here. The USPS just made a friend. They actually called me this morning, to arrange for a time to
pick her up. We said -- thank you, but we'll be right there. :-)The woman at the post office said that was the quickest
check in and out of a package in their history. :-)

Jimmy, I don't know what to say -- I'm speechless. The bass is breath-taking -- it is the most beautiful
instrument I have ever seen or touched. I don'tknow if I want to play it or display it like a pieceof art.

It plays beautifully, it sounds incredible! You should be very proud
to have the ability to build these -- what a work of art.

I am so happy with the bass. God bless you for an incredible piece of work and for all the energy
you put into this. You're a really great guy.

I was impressed with the variety of tones I was able to get out of the bass. The Little
Monster has a brighter sound more of a Fender Jass bass sound. I was impressed with the
variety of tones I was able to get out of the bass. It was great on my thumb and it will
definitely be my bass of choice on gigs. I had several people comment
on the bass since they were used to seeing me play my P-Bass. I hold my
bass sorta high up and my guitar player a ex-session player from muscle
shoals who has done some work with Percy Sledge Jr, The Forrester
Sisters. and the Forrester Sisters and the Amazing
Rhythnn Aces told me it looked like I was playing a Stratocaster! I am
still interested in an L1 as well. Anyway, I am very satisfied with the bass and I am going to use it
on all my gigs. It is a good addition to my collection of basses, 69 P-Bass,
65 Reverse Gibson Thunderbird Bass and now a Landing Little Monster !!

Take Care ----Steve Walls

Mr. Jimmy Wilson,

You sneaky person you! Hahaha... I just got my bass
tonight and it is wonderful! I haven't had a chance to play with it
yet, but it feels so comfortable in my hands. And the finish is absolutely astounding!
I thank you so much for helping my wife. All of our friends knew and
it was a complete surprise to me!
I will try to email you in a couple of days. God
bless you sir, and have a great day! :)

Have been showing the bass around and have it at work today. Bass players at
Christmas and here at work. Simply admired by one and all. Frankly, I don't
know what I'd change about this instrument. I believe it is a once in a
lifetime purchase. I may eventually want another, but not a replacement.
Thank you for a great piece of art at an unbelievable price.

                                                                                                   T. Schneider

I'm just loving your bass. - Rick Bady
Hey Landing,
UPS came through today. Local airport has been socked in for a couple of days so I had to drive back over to UPS to pick up the bass after we got the day off. Unpacked it in the parking lot, got admiring complements from this babe....      Any way, I got to the music store to get a strap and naturally they are out of what I want but the salesman wants to check out the bass.
His assessment: "Man, you done GOOOOD."
Now my amp isn't anything to write home about but I decided to time the sustain. Pluck a note and it holds for about 25 seconds.
And we're not cranked or anything yet. You could get carpal tunnel waiting for this thing to end. Plugged it into my sound system as my amp really couldn't do it justice. The tonezzzzzzzzzzzz! Need to get it into a really good amp next week. Also have a friend who can give it a real work out. Think we're going to blow some minds.
I knew I was getting something special and I sure did. I hope to be able to play this thing as well as it deserves. I really like the feel, and though it reproduces every sound so clearly, including mistakes, it really fits nicely and it should allow for rapid advancement in my playing.
Thank you isn't enough.                                                                 Tom

I don't know if the custom work is something you want to pursue - your standard models seem like such nice basses - but I think you're as good at it as anyone out there. Plus, you have proven that you can allow the customer to have some input and still make sure the total project is something you can be proud of.                                                                 D. W.

It was really a pleasure to do business with you. The L1 that I
purchased is just great, and I 'm looking forward to buying another bass from you in
the near future. I'm originally a guitar player, and the transition to your
finely crafted 4 sring was as smooth as silk. Your basses have the same feel
as a 6 string guitar,and the shorter scale rules !!! I wouldn't buy any
other bass than a Landing.
  Ron C.

One of the big problems with my other little bass was that the
head was too big & heavy for the body and I wound up having to
hold the neck up while I played (great tension producer!). Yours
is so beautifully balanced. What amazes me is that it all looks
“right” together. The way the body & the cutaways balance the
head & neck ...visually it's very pleasing and elegant.
  Hi Jimmy,

I received my base on Thursday. My email was down and I was unable to email you until today.  I really love the bass.  The quality of sound is unbelieveable.   When I play, it sounds like more than one instrument playing. I love the small neck and it is easy to play.  I am excited to use it for a full practice on Sunday because I hope to use it next Saturday for our outside party.  We will be playing at a "Block Party" for about 200 people. I think it will be wonderful outside. The sound just continues to resinate. I think that will be of great value when playing outside.  Everything was in great condition.

Thanks for all you did.  Bye for now.                                           Barb O.

Jimmy you bastard, Rickenbacker just arrived 5 minutes ago and
first impression is you didn't do a good job, you did
a GREAT job  !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is the year 2000 and poor workmanship and " I don't give a damn" are epidemic in business. However my experience with Jimmy Wilson was an exception to the rule and was most appreciated. I found a guy that was an artisan , a guy who knew his stuff , a guy who delivered what he promised, a job that exceeded my expectations of how would look, a guy who treated my bass as if it was his own. Do you know how rare that is ?  I would be honored to give anyone a reference to Landing Guitars and Jimmy Wilson. I would not hesitate to have him work on my basses in the future. Sincerely,  Robert Moretti
Hey Jimmy, just wanted to drop you a line to tell you the bass made it
in one piece. It looks great and sounds great.    Steve

GREAT to here from you ! Gotta tell you, my white bass is the pride of my stable; its the #1 instrument I pull out when I want bit of fun.           Who da man ? You da man ! You did this for me. Thank you !
Love the guitar! Sound is great. I dig this bass. It is easy to reach all the frets, throughout the range. Jimmy I just want to thank you fo
r everything. The personalized help and understanding way you communicated with my wife are nothing shy of the best! I have never received the kind of service and attention, on a personal as well as professional level, that you have demonstrated in the past few months. I will definitely be back when its time for another... :)           Vin
The word "artiste"-a person very skilled in his work'
